Signet Society's Barriers Opened To Admit Women
Radcliffe women have been historically excluded from Harvard's Signet Society, a literary and artistic discussion group, but this has changed with the initiation of the first eight female members. This move marks the Signet Society, a 101-year-old Harvard club, as the first to admit women, breaking its male-only tradition. Martin H. Kaplan '71, the Society's vice president, likened the previous exclusion of women to having an all-male Lamont Library and expressed pleasure in welcoming Radcliffe women.| Creator |
