Janitor Rehired After Labor Dispute
Marlene Soprani, a former Harvard janitor who filed a gender discrimination complaint against ACME/Pioneer Janitorial Services in April, was rehired and transferred to a new position this month as part of a settlement. Soprani had alleged that her former boss, Carlos Da Silva, told her a job she applied for was "more for a man" and later humiliated her, leading to her layoff. The complaint was resolved after several negotiations between Soprani, her union representative, and ACME/Pioneer Vice President Frank Gello, resulting in her dismissal of the complaint and reassignment to a day shift at Lamont Library. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the outcome, although they did not disclose specific details due to confidentiality.| Creator |
