Following Walkout, Hundreds Email Harvard to Fire Harvard Professor Comaroff Over Harassment Allegations
Over 240 people have emailed Harvard administrators demanding the dismissal of John L. Comaroff, a professor accused of sexual harassment, following a student walkout during his first class of the semester. Organized by the student activist group Our Harvard Can Do Better, the emails labeled Comaroff a "known sexual abuser" and called for his immediate termination. Comaroff, a professor of African and African American Studies and Anthropology, was previously placed on leave in 2020 after an investigation by The Crimson revealed multiple harassment complaints. His return to teaching in fall 2022 sparked continued protests. Despite internal investigations confirming verbal misconduct, Comaroff’s legal team denies any physical sexual harassment, asserting that the allegations are unfounded and that Harvard's investigations did not support the claims. The university has declined to comment on the email campaign.| Creator |
