Civil Rights Office Opens Investigation of College’s Handling of Sexual Assault Cases
The Office for Civil Rights from the Department of Education is investigating Harvard College's handling of sexual assault cases following a complaint alleging Title IX violations with survivor testimonials. The complaint was filed by the student activist campaign Our Harvard Can Do Better, calling for policies like affirmative consent and a lower burden of proof standard. Harvard has also recently revised its sexual assault policy in compliance with Title IX. This is not the first time the College's policies have been investigated; a similar probe occurred in 2002. Additionally, Harvard Law School's sexual assault policies remain under investigation after a complaint was filed in 2010| Creator |
