In the Wake of Comaroff Sexual Harassment Scandal, Harvard AAAS Graduate Students Call for Sweeping Reforms
Several graduate students signed a letter claiming that the African and African American Studies department had become a hostile environment, especially towards survivors, after several faculty members signed a letter questioning the sanctions placed on AAAS studies professor Comaroff. The letter claimed this constituted grave professional misconduct and that graduate students had repeatedly informed department leaders of the allegations against Comaroff. The statement calls for greater student involvement in faculty hires, and demands the AAAS support the Graduate Student Union-UAW's call for third-party arbitration of sexual harassment cases.| Creator |
