Burden of Proof
In 2002, Harvard's Faculty required "independent corroborating evidence" for the Administrative Board to investigate sexual assault complaints. This policy led to protests by the Coalition Against Sexual Violence (CASV) and a complaint to the U.S. Office for Civil Rights (OCR). For example, a student named Jane had her assault claim dismissed due to lack of evidence, despite providing 15 witnesses. Harvard responded by forming a committee that recommended a dedicated office for prevention and support, clearer investigative procedures, and improved training for Ad Board members.| Creator |
