Unreported 2008 Probe Prompted Med School To Adjust Sexual Assault Procedures
The Department of Education's 2008 investigation into Harvard Medical School resulted from a female student's complaint that the school inadequately responded to her allegations of sexual harassment and assault by an assistant professor, taking nearly two years to investigate and an additional 10 months to resolve her appeal. The student also claimed that Harvard improperly returned intimate photographs to the professor against the faculty grievance panel's recommendations. In response, Harvard revised its policies, committing to resolve complaints within six months using a three-person faculty grievance panel. Overall, Harvard received at least 18 Title IX complaints since 2002, most of which did not lead to full investigations or policy changes.| Creator |
