Dershowitz to Appeal Case

Harvard Law Professor Alan M. Dershowitz announced his intent to appeal a 1993 Massachusetts sexual harassment ruling to defend free speech. The Suffolk Superior Court had found David Heller guilty of sexual harassment for distributing a photo collage of his coworker Sylvia Smith Bowman’s face on a nude body during a union election campaign. Dershowitz argues that the ruling is a form of political censorship, while opposing attorney Nancy Shilepsky maintains that it concerns unlawful workplace harassment. The case has drawn support from various legal organizations, including the Boston Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association, and is currently pending in the state court of appeals.
