Wide Sexual Harassment Found at Harvard

A survey conducted by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University revealed widespread sexual harassment among female students and non-tenured faculty members. The results showed that 34 percent of female undergraduates, 41 percent of female graduate students, and 49 percent of non-tenured female faculty reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment since arriving at Harvard. The reported incidents ranged from sexual jokes and teasing to unwanted physical contact and attempted assault or rape. Serious harassment affected 6 percent of undergraduate women, 20 percent of female graduate students, and 17 percent of non-tenured female faculty, often leading to negative personal and professional impacts. Despite the high incidence of harassment, few victims filed formal complaints. The university's current procedures involve investigating complaints and taking appropriate disciplinary actions but do not disclose the names or details of the investigations.
