Suit Filed Against Harvard for Swim Coach's Alleged Sexual Abuse in 1970s
In a lawsuit Stephen M. Embry accused Harvard University of allowing sexual abuse by former assistant swim coach Benjamin H. Merritt, who allegedly abused Embry from ages 12 to 14 between 1957 and 1972. Merritt, who committed suicide following similar accusations 16 years ago, reportedly abused Embry and other boys at the Harvard pool. Embry claims Harvard either knew or should have known about the abuse and failed to act. Despite contacting Harvard in 2008 and 2010 about the abuse and its long-term impact on his mental health, Embry received minimal response, with Harvard asserting the time for legal claims had expired.| Creator |
