Women Invade Glee Club Concert But 'Fair Harvard' Remains Male
The Yale Glee Club has stated that they will not return to Harvard for the traditional Harvard-Yale football concert unless their female members are properly accommodated. Last May, the Harvard Glee Club requested that Yale not bring its female members, believing that the concert's traditions should remain an all-male affair. Yale insisted on including their female members, to which Harvard reluctantly agreed but refused to provide housing for the women. Robert A. Hutchinson, the manager of the Harvard Glee Club, stated they couldn't ask the Radcliffe Choral Society to house the Yale women without also inviting them to perform. During the concert, the Harvard Glee Club refused to let Yale sing "Fair Harvard," leading to a protest where Yale's men and women sang their alma mater arm-in-arm. Harvard then mimicked the gesture with an all-male rendition.| Creator |
