Hill Promises to Keep Fighting
Five years after bringing sexual harassment into the national spotlight, Anita Hill spoke to nearly 300 Harvard Law School students, stating that sexual harassment remains a serious problem and won't be resolved in her lifetime. Hill, who accused Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of harassment during his 1991 Senate confirmation hearings, noted that despite increased awareness, harassment persists. She cited steady harassment rates in military academies between 1990 and 1994 and linked racial and gender discrimination, criticizing ineffective procedures in both areas. Hill emphasized the need for a proactive shift in addressing harassment and shared that her public advocacy, though reluctant at first, has been fulfilling.| Creator |
