Gov Department of Offer Harassment Counseling
Following committee recommendations, the Harvard Government Department will appoint two professors to provide informal counseling on sexual harassment issues. This initiative aims to ensure individuals do not feel isolated when facing harassment. The move is in response to a recent harassment case involving two professors, which sparked criticism over the handling and lack of transparency. The new counselors will be well-versed in harassment rights and procedures, offering an informal complaint channel without replacing existing university policies. Department Chair John D. Montgomery plans to appoint the counselors by the spring semester, ideally ensuring gender balance. The committee consulted with faculty and graduate students while formulating their recommendations. Some students, however, expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of the new roles, particularly if filled by senior male professors.| Creator |
