Harvard Band Members Walk Out of Centennial Banquet After Alumni Comments on Sexual Harassment Policy
At a banquet celebrating the Harvard Band's centennial, more than 70 members walked out after alumnus Richard D. Horn ’72 made a joke about the group's new sexual harassment policy. The policy, which had already sparked controversy among alumni, provides a formal system for reporting sexual misconduct. Horn later expressed regret for his remarks, emphasizing his support for the policy. Another speaker also joked about the policy and subsequently apologized. Following the walkout, Harvard Band Foundation president Camaron “Cammie” S. O’Connor Wynn ’94 apologized for the disruption. Despite the incident, the weekend's events, including a football game performance, were positively received, with many alumni reaffirming their support for the policy.| Creator |
