Oarswomen Protest Sexist Treatment at Hudson Races

Members of the Radcliffe crew team protested the sexist language used at the "Challenge of the Hudson" regatta, where female athletes were referred to as "girls" and "ladies," while male athletes were not called "boys." Rower Rebecca K. Treptow '92 plans to send a complaint letter to the event's director, Fred Shoch, and to other women's crew teams, encouraging them to voice their concerns. Interim head coach Edward Kloman supported Treptow's actions, noting that the organizers, considered conservative in their views on women's rowing, apologized and promised to be more mindful of their language in the future.
