UHS Allegedly Bungled Case
University Health Services allegedly mishandled the treatment of a student who was poisoned with a date-rape drug, according to the victim's roommate. After the student returned from a party showing severe intoxication symptoms, emergency medical technicians and a UHS nurse initially misidentified the condition as excessive drinking. Despite friends' insistence and subsequent research indicating Rohypnol poisoning, the UHS nurse was initially unresponsive and unaware of the drug's effects. Eventually, tests confirmed the presence of Rohypnol. UHS Director David S. Rosenthal defended the staff's qualifications and stated that toxicology screens can detect Rohypnol up to 12 hours after ingestion. He urged the affected student to file an official complaint for a review.| Creator |
