Take Back the Day, Too
This article discusses how many Harvard students mistakenly believe that violence against women isn't an issue on campus when statistics show that 25% of women experience rape/attempted rape, and 33% face violence in intimate relationships. The Radcliffe Union of Students' Take Back the Night event aims to raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of violence against women. This year’s events included workshops, panels, speakers, and films, but the author argues that the efforts to combat this violence must continue beyond this week. Ending violence against women requires understanding its causes and working towards prevention, not just dealing with the aftermath. The ultimate goal is to make events like Take Back the Night unnecessary by eradicating violence against women entirely.| Creator |
