Harvard Seeks Wider Perceptions of Rape
Harvard University has aimed to broadened its perceptions of rape through a new pamphlet created by students Michele J. Orza '84 and Robert D. Slate '83, in collaboration with University Health Services and the Harvard Police Department. This pamphlet addresses issues not covered in the previous version, such as "acquaintance rape," male-on-male rape, and racial aspects of rape. It also includes first-hand accounts from survivors and a poem by Marge Plenty. The new booklet aims to be more empowering and less stigmatizing, using the term "survivor" instead of "victim." The pamphlet highlights that rape is not just an issue at Harvard but a widespread problem in all communities.| Creator |
