An undergraduate woman was raped on Shepard Street in front of Hilles Library. The police have no leads and are seeking information on the suspect, described as a white male in his late twenties. The assault occurred as she walked home to the Quad, after being escorted partway by a friend. Several people passed by during the rape but did not notice or alert authorities. The police were informed of the incident the next morning after the woman sought help. In response, university authorities are considering improved security measures, including better lighting and regular trimming of bushes around the Quad.
